Why do we have brows?
"Brows protect our eyes from the moisture rolling off our forehead," explains Lentin. Did you know that each of your brows has 720 hairs and that these hairs will actually change over time?
Whats the latest 'look' for brows?
"Think of it this way – there's no one hairstyle for everyone, so there's no one brow style for everyone," says Lentin. "The trick is to find the best frame for you rather than follow a trend."
Why is brow-shaping often so hard to get right?
If you want a new shape better suited to you, go to a brow technician. "The trick is to create an 'emotional' eyebrow. Don't think 'there's hair so I must tweeze' because removing just one hair can create a hole."
What technique creates a better look? Waxing or threading?
There is no right or wrong answer here. As Lentin explains, it's all about finding the best expert for the job. "It's about finding the best technician to perform the job rather than thinking one technique is better than the other."
Is it a no-no to remove the hairs on the top pf my brows?
"Unwanted hair is unwanted hair," says Lentin. So, this brow "rule" isn't something to live by but removing hair above your brows should be done with caution. I recommend having an expert assess the hair in this area first and show you how much is going to be removed before he or she applies the wax or starts to thread.
Previous sunscreens like the Daily Defense or the SUN products were highly effective moisturizers with a built in sun protection, but they did not offer the cosmetically pleasing feel on the skin due to the fact that high concentration of zinc oxide tended to be more pasty, tacky and drying due to the characteristics of this inorganic compound. Our goal was to create a premier product unlike anything like it in the marketplace. This was accomplished by discovering a innovative and novel zinc oxide that we source from Japan. By utilizing this unique zinc oxide, we achieved an unparalleled cosmetic feel on the skin without leaving the usual white residue.
These moisturizers are truly unmatched in the industry. We offer 2 different, pure physical moisturizers with built in sun protection: Prevention+ hydrating moisturizer SPF 30, with one of the highest concentration of zinc oxide in the market place of 18.6% (31% zinc dispersion), as well as a combination of zinc oxide and titanium in our Prevention+ tinted moisturizer SPF 30. To offer more variety, and to offer an even more weightless feel, as consumers requested, we offer a unique Prevention+ matte moisturizer SPF 32, that includes the same physical sunscreen ingredient zinc oxide, in combination of an SPF booster Oxtinoxate, that is an organic compound, and one of the most widely UVB sunscreens used. Recent studies showed that this organic compound does not penetrate the outer skin in sufficient concentrations to cause any significant toxicity, therefore it is considered safe with a proven track record. This moisturizer offers lightweight moisture, and dries quickly without a reasidue. As the tinted moisturizer, it is oil-free.
In the near future the FDA will regulate and limit SPF factors at a maximum of 50, due to the fact that higher SPF numbers are not significantly more protective. Therefore Image Skincare also offers the Prevention+ ultimate protection moisturizer SPF 50, that contains the main SPF sunscreen ingredient zinc oxide, which offers the broadest range of protection, as well as SPF booster Octinoxate, as well as Octisalate, which is an organic compound and which shows also no skin penetration nor pose any risk to health according to the European Commission of Health and Consumer Protection. In addition this SPF also includes plant-derived stem cells to protect our skin cells from UV radiation on a cellular level. All of the offered Prevention+ products offer a wide range of additional benefits, and inhibit free radicals by incorporated anti-oxidants.
Prevention+ is much more than your average sunscreen:
First line of defense:
Main ingredient, pure physical zinc oxide. This is a broad spectrum inorganic UVA/UVB protection ingredient, offers the significant amount of protection and prevention of sun damage
Novel zinc oxide: fine particle size of coated zinc in a dispersion. Unparalleled in the industry: non-greasy, non-sticky, non-tacky, non-pasty due to its breakthrough technology.
Second line of defense:
Innovative, novel anti-oxidants and preventative measures to protect DNA damage: Photosomes, Roxisomes, Ultrasomes as well as stabilized Vitamin C and other anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants fight free radical damage, and are free radical scavengers, as soon as they develop due to UV exposure on the skin
Third line of defense:
Ultra effective anti-oxidant thiotaine adds additional protection against free radical damage
Fourth Line of defense:
Plant derived stem cells for ultimate protection and prevention in the Prevention+ ultimate protection moisturizer SPF 50.
These ingredients include parabens, phthalates, alcohol and mineral oils, which are included in skin care products to serve as fillers. These fillers are added with the intention of making the product more attractive to the consumer.
Phthalates are carrier ingredients for fragrances that are added to products. Studies performed on animals reveal that prenatal exposure, as well as exposure to this ingredient through breast-feeding, has hormonal-altering effects. The fact that many consumers are against using products that are tested on animals alone makes products that contain phthalates an issue. Image Skincare products are not tested on animals.
Parabens are used to preserve and extend the shelf-life of skin care products. The issue with parabens is that they can cause allergic reactions, mimic estrogen, and potentially increase the risk of breast cancer. Natural ingredients such as vitamin E, thyme essential oil, and tea tree oil are also used as preservatives, however, while these ingredients may not carry cancer-causing risk that parabens do, they may cause allergic reactions. The way to find out if you have allergies to certain ingredients is to have a patch test done by a dermatologist. Another way to cut down on risks associated with parabens is to look for products that contain 25% or less. Image Skincare products are 100% free of parabens.
Alcohol and mineral oils are also widely used in skin care products and have the potential to really worsen dry skin conditions. Of course, alcohol can be very drying, but it is used in skin care products as a thinning agent for products that would otherwise be quite thick, such as serums. Again, this goes back to the aesthetics of a product and how well it will sell. Alcohol actually disrupts the skin’s natural function of making oils that naturally keep your skin soft and supple. Conversely, mineral oil is an ingredient that just sits on the skin. It has only trace water solubility and requires a strong agent to remove it.
Dry skin can have many causes, ranging from living in a dry environment, overexposure to sun, using the wrong products, even heredity. Our Vital C Hydrating Intense Moisturizer contains many natural ingredients that can effectively and safely address dry skin. It contains palmitoyl oligopeptide which naturally occurs in our bodies. This ingredient assists with collagen production. Collagen is the substance that gives the skin that youthful, “plump” appearance. It also contains shea butter, which is very rich and moisturizing, hyaluronic acid, and other effective ingredients that are specific to addressing dry skin issues.
You do have choices when it comes to fighting dry skin. However, Vital C hydrating intense moisturizer is a product that will give you the results that you want in a short amount of time, and these results will be long-lasting.
You’ve learned how to find the best (safest) coffee in your area.
You can spot low quality butter and choose the real thing that makes your brain work better.
You understand why some coffee is good for you.
You discovered why bad coffee makes you weak.
Now you can learn how to make the best cup of coffee on earth (with a catch).
Bulletproof Coffee is becoming popular for a reason. Aside from tasting awesome, it makes you feel lean, focused, and energized. It allows you to transform your diet without resorting to chewing on sticks of butter (though that’s not a bad idea…).
The only problem is that one of the ingredients – coffee without toxins from the coffee manufacturing process – is hard to reliably find. Until now. After nearly 10 years of searching for a consistently high quality coffee with superb mental effects, without the jittery, anxious feelings caused by mycotoxins in coffee, I’ve produced a coffee that literally upgrades your head.
To celebrate the launch of the finest coffee beans the world has to offer, here is the simple version of how to make Bulletproof Coffee.
#1 Make coffee: Brew coffee as you normally would. Make sure it’s the right kind of coffee. If you haven’t purchased Bulletproof Upgraded Coffee beans, read this post to find the best coffee in your area. Use a brown paper filter.
#2 Pre-heat blender: Boil extra water and pour it into a blender while your coffee brews to pre-heat the blender.
#3 Froth: Empty hot water from the now pre-heated blender and add the brewed coffee, butter, and MCT oil. Blend until there is a thick layer of foam on top like a latte. A Blend-tec or Vitamix blender will do it quickly, a normal countertop blender takes longer, and a handblender works ok if you don’t have a real blender.
#4 (optional) Add cinnamon, vanilla, dark chocolate, or a sweetener like Stevia, erythritol, or xylitol (this is technically a sacrilege if you use awesome beans, but some people love their mocha…)
#5 : Put on a satisfied look and enjoy the high performance buzz from your creamy mug of Bulletproof Coffee as you watch your chubby, tired coworkers eat low-fat yogurt and twigs for breakfast. It’s almost unfair.
Oh, and what’s the catch? You will have no excuse for not getting things done now that you’re powered by Bulletproof Coffee.

We came across a brow presentation by Jozi-based brow grooming expert Gillian Lentin of BrowXpress and learnt some very cool new facts and tips. So, next time you're in front the mirror, tweezers in hand, have a think about these things...
Marc A Ronert, MD, PhD, Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon explains IMAGE Skincare's innovation in modern sunscreen moisturizers.
There are many skin care lines and products that are geared toward addressing dry skin. However, some moisturizer products on the market actually contain ingredients that can exacerbate dryness.
You read about how Bulletproof Coffee came to be after a trip to Tibet. Now you can learn how to make the best cup of coffee on earth (with a catch).
